Andrew Belle’s music has a very unique, cool swag to it. I know cool is mad overused, but I can’t think of a better word. The main difference between Black Bear and Belle’s third LP Dive Deep is the attitude. Black Bear was a search for light in the darkness. Dive Deep is the invitation to dive into the light that has been found.
Andrew Belle doesn’t write bad songs. I know that’s a cliché that gets thrown around. I read on youtube comments all the time, “omg, like this band/artist has never released a bad song” and it bugs me when I read that because a lot of the time I don’t even like the song that comment is on. But with AB, I actually feel that way. Each one of his songs are so solid.
Andrew Belle doesn’t fit the singer/song-writer mold. He does what he wants and he’s got the pipes to back up his sick arrangements. Nobody is doing what he does (if someone is, please tell me about them because I’d love to hear them).
If there is one record released this year that I believe people reading this could universally agree is dope, it would be this one.
